Principal's Welcome Message

I became the academic leader and chief executive officer of the school on 1st September 2003. This remains, a privilege for me, seeing St. Peter’s not only grow in size and population but becoming one of the leading schools in the Gambia as our vision statement challenges us to be. All that, plus a very green environment, a great farm, disciplined and intelligent students and a hardworking staff always at the beck and call of an appreciative student body make it a special school. No wonder we are at the top of the popularity stakes.

Over time, I have come to appreciate much more clearly what makes this school so special. Who else but people! First, the 3 Principals before me who were great thinkers and administrators; they laid the foundation for us to inherit a potentially great school which accounts for the school’s position as a national leader in subjects ranging from Agricultural Science to Farming, from Chemistry to Auto Mechanics and Applied Electricity, from Geography to Religion. Then there are the administrators, Senior Masters, Heads of Departments, gardeners, teachers Accounts Staff, Ancillary Staff and many others who support the whole machinery of the School with such superb commitment and enthusiasm. And, of course, there are our students – an extraordinarily diverse body of young people united by exceptional ability, motivation and potential.

Our Vision statement challenges us to strife to be the leading school in the Gambia in striving for academic excellence and discipline. We are already being acknowledged as excelling in both of these roles, and we intend to do even better in the next few years. Hence the ambitious programme of investment in facilities and staff.

We are a community of scholarship in a creative and dynamic school. We set very high standards and we have a clear vision for the future. This is truly the school to be.

Welcome!
