Brief History of The School
St. Peter’s Technical Junior and Secondary School as it is known today was opened in 1975. It was called St. Peter’s Technical High School at the time. It is the first Technical High School in the Gambia. Its first Principal was Fr. Vincent Comer of blessed memory.
Before 1975 St Peter’s was actually an Agricultural and Technical Training Centre, what would be referred to as a polytechnic today. That is how St. Peter’s logically became a Technical High School; the foundation was already laid. Faithful to the vision of the Founding Fathers of the School, Holy Ghost Priests, the present administration decided to develop the Technical and Agricultural wings of the school into admirable enterprises. Though the best performing students come from our Science Department, the Technical Students are high achievers. The school also runs a very viable farm known as the St. Peter’s Family Farms. It is the pride of the school.
Today St Peter’s prides itself as the greenest and one of the leading schools in the country. Recent WAEC results have left us winning national awards yearly for excellent academic achievements by our students.
