How Can One Get Admitted Into St Peter's TJSSS
ADMISSION INTO GRADE 7
St. Peter’s Upper Basic which we continue to refer to as St. Peter’s Technical Junior Secondary School like every other public school in the country has a feeder school and that is St. Peter’s Primary School. Therefore, all the students in Grade 6 in St. Peter’s Primary automatically transit to grade 7 in our school every September.
However, because of our recorded recent history of good academic performance, we have become a very attractive school. Our Junior School is able to accommodate more than our feeder school provides. As a result we give students in the neighbourhood who do not attend St. Peter’s Primary and who want to be enrolled in our school the opportunity to come. Since we cannot accommodate all of them, we subject them to an entrance examination which takes place at the end of the academic year. Interested students are expected to register for such and exam and pass very well. Depending on the space available from year to year we enroll students who make the cut off mark.
Students may also transfer to grade 8 or 9 in our school but they are also subjected to an exam and upon qualification have to bring a transfer certificate from their previous school.
ADMISSION INTO GRADE 10
We have a strict admission policy into our senior school section. The cut off mark is determined every year in August upon the release of the GABECE results. Only students with the school cut off mark who have St. Peter’s as their school of choice are qualified for admission. The cut off mark is usually top class as we are a high achievement school. Students in other schools who later want to transfer to St. Peter’s are expected to come along with their grade 9 result (GABECE) and must have made the cut off mark for enrolment into our school. Upon enrolment transferring student also come along with a transfer certificate from their previous school.
